INVITATION & GENERAL REGULATIONS
I) INVITATION
Under the auspices of the Nigeria Chess Federation, the South West Zonal Chess representative has the honour of inviting you to the 1ST SOUTH-WEST ZONAL CHESS CONFERENCE & NATIONAL ARBITERS TRAINING COURSE scheduled to come up from the 6th - 11th of March, 2006.
II) GENERAL
F.I.D.E. LAWS OF CHESS shall apply. The competition shall be a team Championship event.
III) PARTICIPATION
· All States in the South-West Zone only are eligible to participate i.e. Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti & Ondo States only.
· Each State is eligible to enter 6 Male Players and 1 Team Captain and 6 Female Players and 1 Team Captain.
· Each state is eligible to register any number of participants for the National Arbiters Training course.
REGISTRATION AND TRAVEL CONDITIONS
· All travel expenses is the responsibility of the participating States.
· Each participating team is expected to pay to the organizers a token of N5, 000 participation fee. i.e. N5000 each for the Male and Female teams. If a state is presenting both the male and female teams, participation fee is N10, 000. This should be paid on arrival at the venue. This payment is mandatory and confirms participation.
· Registration for the arbiters training course is also N5, 000 per participant. This covers all course materials and lunch.
ACCOMMODATION AND PLAYING VENUE
· Accommodation shall be provided at the liberty stadium at highly reduced cost.
· The tournament venue shall be the conference hall of the liberty stadium.
· Accommodation of athletes and officials is the responsibility of each participating team.
· Participants for the National Arbiters course can also take subsidized accommodation at the liberty stadium.

SYSTEM AND RATE OF PLAY
The conference format will be SWISS system Round Robin in accordance with F.I.D.E regulations. Rate of play will be 1 hr for the first 23 moves and 30 mins to finish. The tournament will be played using the DGT clocks.
THE BREAK
If there is a tie for the medal winners any board, these ties will be broken by play offs. The format of these will be explained during the technical meeting at the start of the event.
ARBITRATION
Each participating team is expected to bring along a qualified National Arbiter at the expense of the team.
