After the match, it was time for the presentation of the Trophy to the winner and of course to his opponent too in the spirit of “ Gens Una Sumus,” - We are one family.

To do the Presentation was Mr. Seun Oyefeso, a very important man in Nigeria and outside of the Country. Apart from being a wonderful leader, Mr. Oyefeso has been a friend of chess for so many years. Oyefeso is a dear friend of Emmanuel Omuku, former Excecutive Secretary of the World Chess Federation and he is also a chess player . Omuku once refered to Oyefeso as a legend in his own rights. So it was a great privildge to have him at hand to do the Trophy and medal presentation to our chess players.

Joining Mr. Oyefeso to do the Presentation was Mr. Quayle Johnson, a life member of the US Chess Federation and one of the directors of the Houston Chess Club, Mr. Sonny Ogunseye, Dr Okey Iwu and Mr Kunle Elegbede.

All the Participants, especially those who traveled from far distances were specificaly recognized for their great sacrifices on behalf of the Nigerian Chess players. Every one of them received a medal, complement of the Nigeria Chess Players Forum.

In all, it was more of a celebration of our past, present and of the bright future of the African chess and beyond. It was a celebration of our Chess Heritage with the possibilities ahead looking better every day.

More stories to come about the ADU -ONYEKWERE MATCH.
