NCF Invites 118 for Olympiad Trial

After almost three hours of deliberation of its Technical Committee, the Nigeria Chess Federation (NCF), has invited 118 chess players for the first stage of the World Chess Olympiad trials which will come up at the National Stadium, Lagos from 21^st-27^th of this month.

The Committee members at the meeting are Rachael Edward-Dappa, Lekan Adeyemi, Femi Solaja, Eugene Ahkiwu and Secretary NCF, invited 64 male players led by Adebayo Adegboyega and 54 female will compete in the 9-round Swiss event trial that will produce 10 players in each category for the final round robin which will come up late next month.

The invited players were drawn from the list of qualifiers from the state trials held recently while the rest are national players who are currently not attached to any state just as last trial event and the Nigeria Breweries National Chess event rating was also put into use by the technical committee.

Other invited players in the male category are; Tolu Ogunwobi, Fawole Oyeyemi John, Tunji Rojugbokan, Demola Shorungbe, Olanrewaju Ajibola, Benjamin Omorere, Kolade Onabogun, Oluwole Koko, Toyin Jeje, Omapkeje Ochuko, Obubele Koko, Leonard Etuk Akpan, Anthony Job, Fola Akintola, Femi Fasheyitan, Allor Chuks, Rotimi Dashaolu, Bayo Babalola, Sunny Eyenge, Mutiu Salawu Douye Asingbi and Bimbo Ogunowo.

The rest are Olamide Ajibowo, Adegbayi Oluwadara, M. C Cole, Ekpoikong Enagwe, Ubong Arch bong, Austin Apemiye, Nosa Edogiawerie, Ifeanyi Okonkwo, Temma Ikorodudu, Madu George, F. Lolomari, Chima Mgbemgna, Ahmed Abubarka, Babatunde Ogunsiku, Ben Awomukwu, Ejika Uchewna, Ihejioka Okezie, Chike Anunoh, Bunmi Olape, Femi Balogun, E. A Samugana, Emmanuel Olaleye, Lolo Adeshina, Ekekuzi Chuks, Folabo Oyebola and Tope Ijisakin.

Umar Abubakar, David Werr, Ezekiel Pam Anthony, Segun Tunde, Salisu Bashir, Sani Faralu, Meshak Othman, Tunde Oladejo, Karebo Okubaubeu, Charles Campbell, Bomo Kigigha, Pam Abdul-Dio, Robert Magomaya, Ninyawu Sabiya and Inimo Kigigha, all in the male category.

In the female section, Rosemary Amadasun, Doris Omoragbon, Vivian Dzaayem, Ada George, Ikoduru Temma, Madu George, Lolomari F, Kenechukwu Nwafor, Hafsat Bello-Osagie, Nkem Omisogbon, Esther T.I, Biodun A. O, Nneoma Aguta, Justina Aghara, Abiye Koko, Folashayo Togun, Monalisa Chikezie, Amara Nkwonta, Kenechukwu Nwafor, Nkem Omisogbon, Abiona Opeyemi, Mordiyha Usman, Rasheedat Alabi, Aminat Adio, Ruth Eli, Akala Tabitha, Noel Elizabeth, Frances Debole, Emoff Adoga, and Chinyere Annabel.

Others are Chekwas Uwa-Obasi, Tolu Jeje, Phybian Omongbale, Doris Adebayo, Dupe Adesanya, Blessing Amadasun, Nike Ayanleye, Elizabeth Coker, Bimbo Edunwale, Rachael Dappa, Obi Jemide, Abdus-Salam Mardhiyyah, Rabiu Olabisi, Funmi Oyegunle, Tobi Olatunji, Lyan Ossai, Tega Enarevba, Hannah Opusunju, Tope Omofare, Somina Oyebade, Stehanie Elliot, Abigail Wuke, Uche Ezenwa, Mariam Ossai Adeola Bisiriyu and Debola Adeyemi.

“All the invited players are expected to report on schedule for accreditation in the morning of 22^nd and the first round will commence 1; 00pm on schedule while late registration and exemption will not be allowed,” Mr. Lekan Adeyemi disclosed after the meeting.

The Chess Olympiad will come up in Khanty -Mansiysk, Russia from 19th September to 4^th of October and the World Chess body, FIDE has communicated to all federation that preliminary registration must be forwarded by May 20^th and final list of players must reach the secretariat on or before 15^th of July.

Saturday 27^th Round nine 2pm-5pm

N.B –The Technical Committee also resolved that no player would be given exemption just like it happened at the last Olympiad Trial two years ago
